On September 14th, the China-Zambia Investment Promotion Event hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Zambia was held in Beijing. Members of the Zambian delegation, leaders of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, Chinese Ambassador to Zambia, and key leaders of 9 invited enterprises participated in the event. The President of Zambia, Hakand Hichilema, and Deputy Director of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, Gou Ping, attended the event and delivered a speech. Chairman Xi Zhengping of China Nonferrous Metals Group presided over and delivered a speech. Wang Haoyu, Chairman of Dayu Irrigation Group, was invited to attend a dinner party and pay a visit to the President Hakand Hichilema. At the same time, the Zambian delegation was invited to visit Dayu Irrigation Group.
On the morning of September 16th, Mr. Hon Reuben Mtolo, Minister of Agriculture of Zambia, Mr. Sichizuwe Musokotwane, Director of Economy and Commerce, Dr. Chizumba Shepande, Director of Agriculture, Mr. Eng. Fanizani Phiri, local government official led a visit to the Tianjin headquarters of Dayu Irrigation Group. Mr. Wang Chong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Chairman of Dayu Irrigation Group, Mr. Gao Zhanyi, Chief Scientist of Dayu Irrigation Group and Director of Research Institute, Mr. Zhang Xueshuang, Chairman of Supply Chain Company, Ms. Tao Ying, General Manager of International Business Unit, and Mr. Fu Shuai, Deputy General Manager of International Business Unit of Supply Chain Company accompanied the reception.
The guests first visited the cultural exhibition hall of Dayu Irrigation Group’s Tianjin headquarters, agricultural smart greenhouse, prefabricated water storage tank testing base, drip irrigation workshop, gate workshop testing base, and research institute laboratory. In the cultural exhibition hall, the minister heard our mission of Dayu, “Make agriculture smarter, rural areas better, and farmers happier, Make the Countryside Better, Make the Farmer Happier” and repeated it loudly many times. The director consulted in detail about the production process, parameter indicators, and raw material situation of drip irrigation belts in the drip irrigation belt workshop. At the experimental base, the Minister praised Dayu for his continuous innovation and pragmatic spirit in water-saving.
Subsequently, both sides engaged in open, frank, and in-depth communication. This symposium mainly took the Zambia agricultural project as an opportunity to promote a comprehensive strategic cooperation relationship between the two sides.
During the meeting, Mr. Hon Reuben Mtolo, Minister of Agriculture of Zambia, first mentioned the historical origins of China-Zambia relations and thanked the Chinese people for their contributions and sacrifices in building Zambia. Subsequently, the basic overview and agricultural development situation of Zambia were introduced in detail, and the political environment, business environment, and agricultural industry development situation in Zambia were introduced in detail. The Minister pointed out that Zambia has political stability, and the President advocates for vigorously developing the agricultural industry. Agriculture is the top priority for the next step of national development, and irrigation is the first to bear the brunt.
Wang Chong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Chairman of Dayu Irrigation Group welcomed the visiting guests led by the Minister of Agriculture of Zambia and further reiterated the stability and firmness of China-Zambia relations. The secretary pointed out that the world is facing a problem of how to efficiently and effectively utilize agricultural water conservancy, and how to enable the people to use water resources efficiently. Dayu Irrigation has been committed to the agricultural water-saving industry for 30 years. We look forward to deep cooperation in agricultural water conservancy, using our design solutions, services, technology, and cooperation with the Zambian agricultural water conservancy department. I really hope that our Chinese irrigation technology can be applied to Africa and bring tangible benefits to the people of Africa. The secretary further pointed out that the agricultural conditions in Zambia are very similar to those in China, and believes that there is always a water-saving model suitable for Zambia and the people of Zambia.
Mr. Gao Zhanyi, Chief Scientist of Dayu Irrigation Group and Dean of the Research Institute, gave a detailed introduction to the overview of the Dayu Irrigation Yunnan Yuanmou Project. After hearing this, the Minister of Water Resources of Zambia repeatedly praised and expressed great interest in the Yuanmou project, hoping that the Yuanmou project could also be implemented in Zambia. The President of the High Court answered the Minister’s relevant questions one by one in fluent English.
After the symposium, the Minister repeatedly emphasized that their visit was authorized by the President and carefully considered before reaching an agreement. They urgently hope that Dayu can visit Zambia as soon as possible for deeper talks. The secretary stated that Dayu would arrange for relevant teams to conduct inspections and visits as soon as possible. I believe that through the efforts of both parties, Zambia’s agriculture will also become smarter, Countryside will be better, and farmers will be happier.
