The third China Water Conservation Forum is underway in north China’s Tianjin, a city with scarce water resources. This year’s event has the theme “Water Conservation and High Quality Development.” Sun Tianyuan reports.

At the third China Water Conservation Forum in Tianjin, Chinese officials stressed on the importance of water-saving, calling it a crucial factor in the country’s economic and social development.

China’s Ministry of Water Resources say the country has achieved significant results in water conservation. Take agriculture for example, China has kept food on the table for a fifth of the global population, with only six percent of the world’s total water resources and nine percent of the planet’s arable land.

China’s agricultural irrigation experience has also helped other countries feed their people, through international cooperation.
